Easy Pie Crust

Spreading a graham cracker crust in a pie pan.  See my portfolio for more in this series of making a banana-blueberry cream pie.

Servings: Makes 2 nine inch pie crusts with 8 servings each.

fat 4 g (10% of calories from fat)
saturated fat 1 g
protein 2.7 g
carbohydrate 81 g
cholesterol 0 mg
sodium 137 mg
fiber 1 g
no saturated fat.

This pie crust has far less fat than common versions and is quick to make and delicious to eat!

Food as Medicine
Maple syrup is a good source of manganese, a trace mineral that is an essential enzyme cofactor, and important component of energy production and disarming free radicals.

Ingredients

1 package (approx. 1/3 pound) natural Graham crackers
2 1/2 tablespoons maple syrup
2 tablespoons sesame tahini
1 1/2 teaspoons water

Instructions

1. Pulverize the Graham crackers in a food processor.

2. Add the remaining ingredients and process until well-blended.

3. Press half of mixture into a 9-inch pie pan, firming it well.

4. If an unbaked filling is to be used, bake the crust in an oven heated to 350ºF for 20-30 minutes until lightly browned. Otherwise, add the filling and bake the pie as directed.
