With many people tightening their budgets, eating healthy may seem like more of a challenge than ever. Use the Tips each Monday this month to help guide your grocery shopping and keep the bills to a minimum. I have long recommended choosing organic produce as the best way to reap the health benefits of fruits and vegetables without exposing yourself to potentially harmful pesticides. Until more manufacturers adopt organic practices, however, organic foods are likely to remain more expensive than non-organic choices (unless you grow them yourself, a practice I heartily recommend). If organic produce is cutting into your overall budget, it's okay to prioritize a bit and use non-organic varieties of the fruits and vegetables listed below, which tend to contain the least amount of pesticides. You should still make it a habit to wash them thoroughly before eating or cooking to remove dirt and bacteria.
