Three Natural Ways to Minimize Morning Sickness
Tip of the Day

If you or someone you know is pregnant and suffering from morning sickness, there are natural ways to combat the nausea and other symptoms. Consult your physician about trying the following:

  1. Ginger. You can take up to 1,000 mg of ginger daily in any form - tea, candied slices, powdered, or capsules.
  2. Acupressure wristbands. These help many people who experience motion sickness, by pressing on acupressure points on the inner surfaces of your wrists. They are available at most drug and health-food stores. Proper placement of the wristbands is critical - follow the package directions carefully so you'll know how to locate the pressure points.
  3. Keeping your stomach partially full. This traditional advice is simple - eat crackers, dry toast or dry cereal before you get out of bed in the morning, and snack on dry, starchy foods later in the day. Also, sip clear liquids between meals. You're more likely to feel nauseous if your stomach is empty or full.
