Bio-K is my favorite because it has clinical studies to back it up and it is in its natural food state: http://www.biokplus.com/en/index.php

When I take it, I can be around 100 people with the flu and I won't get a sniffle lol.

Thanks folks I will check them all out. Now do you take them year round or just over cold and flu season? Also how many do you take in a day and when do you take them?

Everyday I take one in the AM and one in the PM.  An initial loading phase of 5 in the AM and 5 in the PM for 2 weeks is recommended.  I did about half of that.

Prior to using Dr. Ohhira's probiotic, I tried different brands of refrigerated probiotics but hadn't noticed any difference.  I'm very please with this product.

You can purchase at Vitacost or iHerb.  There are many reviews here:

I started taking Bio-K year round after losing a friend to a virus called C. Difficile. It was killing people in Canadian hospitals and some hospitals decided to give their patients Bio-K and it eliminated the virus. I think it's a very effective product. I take the original one which takes some getting used to if you've never had fermented dairy products before, it tastes a little sour but you eventually get used to it.

I believe the capsules are very effective too but they say that their original product is the most effective of all. If you want to take capsules, you might also be interested in a product called Healthy Trinity by Natren: www.natren.com. I've heard great things about it.

I have not heard of any of the products mentioned here. I do know that there are probiotics that have been tested for their ability to withstand stomach acid. I believe that most of the products on the market are worthless.

One probiotic that Dr Weil recommends is Lactobacillus GG.

There is another probiotic that has been tested in the same way. It is called Bacillus Coagulans and also by the original name  Lactobacillus sporagenes.

You are likely to have better success with these. Don't forget that some substances can easily kill off the probiotic - e.g. cinnamon. So avoid such products when taking the probitic.

Another factor is that it is not easy to say whether a probiotic is doing it's work.  Remember that a lack of chewing the food or a lack of enzymes might be the problem and not the probiotic.
