I just went on the lemonade cleansing diet for a day and a half where you only drink lemonade with maple syrup and cayenne.   I felt extremely fatigued and sick on this diet and when I ate again I felt extremely nausea.   Do you know of the validity of this diet?

Dear Hollyj:
No, we don't.
Dr. Weil does suggest a fruit fast for a day now and then but not everyone can do that confortably.
Dr. Weil says the only way to lose weight (diet) is to eat less and exercise more and, of course, he suggests eating healthy and well rounded meals with foods high in omega 3's.

Best

I was recently told about that cleanse (lemonade diet) and given the book by Stanley Burroughs, "Healing for the Age of Enlightenment".  In the book he thouroughly explanins the cleanse step by step and he calles in 'The Master Cleanser.'  I have heard wonderful things about the cleanse, though I have not tried it yet.  It is supposed to be a 10 day cleanse.  I know when I have cleansed/fasted in the past, I have not felt good the first day or two as your body is releasing toxins.  I hope this helps

Hi,

I am newly join in this site.I hate to tell you, but you lost 18 pounds of muscle tissue, not fat. By denying your body of adequate carb and protein levels, it switched quickly to starvation mode, burning the protein resident in your muscle fibre as fuel, retaining as much fat as it possibly could in case the absence of adequate nutrients continued.

This is not a diet, it's a cleanse.  They are not the same.  If we eat only real like fruits and vegetables with lots of leafy greens and cruciferous veggies, beans and legumes, nuts and seeds, small amounts of real meats and whole (NOT low-fat) dairy like hard cheeses, lots of oily fish, and very small amounts of whole grains like oats, brown rice, or quinoa we won't need to diet or cleanse.

It's the standard American diet (SAD) with refined wheat and sugars, artificial sugars and chemical additives, high fructose corn syrup, etc. that's doing us all in.  We're missing the fat-soluble nutrients and trace minerals necessary for health.  When we are nutrient-replete, we not only enjoy optimum health, but don't have to worry about cravings, dieting, or cleansing.
